Over the past year, Uniswap Foundation grant programs have driven critical advances across DeFi: onboarding more than 800 developers, advancing the work of over 620 researchers, and driving the creation of 150 new v4 hooks. Read the full report here.

As we enter 2025, our community stands at an inflection point. 
We are on the precipice of two major catalysts for DeFi: a shift to a more optimistic regulatory outlook in the US, and the launches of Uniswap v4 and Unichain.  A massive opportunity lies ahead for us over the next year.

At times like these, I come back to the reason Ken and I founded the Uniswap Foundation in the first place. Our vision for the Uniswap Protocol is for it to become the world’s infrastructure for digital value transfer. Our vision for the Uniswap community is for it to create, sustain, and propagate immutable software trusted by organizations and individuals globally.

To achieve this mission, the Uniswap Foundation specifically focuses on Uniswap’s technical infrastructure, developers, and governance system. Through our work with developers, we aim to catalyze the
next wave of DeFi innovation from within our community. At the same time, we aim to empower Uniswap governance to lead community-led growth, while building resilience and sustainability. Lastly, we pride ourselves on setting a new standard for protocol Foundations, by prioritizing impact-driven grants, transparency, and community alignment.

For 2025, we feel equipped to not only embrace the opportunity of the moment but also redefine what is possible for the Uniswap community. These steps forward will be built upon the strong foundation we established in 2024, detailed in our first annual Report.

The 2024 Community Impact Report highlights our part in leading the growth and activation of the Uniswap developer community, alongside the social and governance infrastructure that sustains them. With this report, we aim to showcase our progress, provide transparency, and to create space for community input as we finalize our roadmap for 2025.

Over the last year, the Uniswap Foundation has:

Scaled the Uniswap Developer Community

In 2024, the UF onboarded 800+ v4 developers. This group includes industry executives, noted researchers, university professors, startup founders, and innovative builders from more than 60 countries around the world. More than 150 hooks were created through our programs alone, with applications spanning MEV mitigation and redistribution, real world asset (RWA) onboarding, AI-driven fund management, and more.

Empowered Uniswap Governance

In 2024, the UF launched Govswap, a regular forum for Uniswap delegates to gather IRL to learn from one another, showcase their efforts, and create actionable roadmaps to make a positive impact. We also seeded Conditional Funding Markets for governance, and funded the development of the code for Unistaker, laying the groundwork for governance sustainability.

Developed the Early Unichain Network

Over the last several months, the UF has kickstarted Unichain’s developer ecosystem. More than 750 builders have registered interest in building onchain thus far. With mainnet on the horizon, 30+ Day 1 integrations and apps have been announced thus far, with more to be made public soon.

As we look forward to 2025, we think about everything that we can build upon this foundation. Our North Star for 2025 is to create and capture value for Uniswap’s stakeholders – its delegates and developers. To chart the path to Uniswap governance sustainability, and open up new pathways for community-led growth. 
To build the best home for our developers–a digital space where they can innovate and flourish. We are excited to discuss these goals more with our community in the coming weeks.
